Norwich Trails comprises volunteers who maintain trails in Norwich, VT in support of the Norwich Trails Committee, a subcommittee of the Norwich Conservation Commission. We work with landowners and cooperating organizations to maintain a network of public trails, spanning Norwich and interconnecting with neighboring communities. We meet concurrently with and report to the Norwich Trails Committee.

Site Work in Progress!
Please note some recent web site changes, particularly to the Trails menu (on the menu-bar at the top of all pages). Try these new choices:
Norwich Trails Overview replaces the former Trails Overview page to provide high-level information about our trails, touching on concerns such as land ownership and trail types.
Norwich Trails Guide provides a concise list of trails both individual and small networked sites. This part of the site is a work in progress, where the existing trail descriptions are gradually being replaced using some new presentation patterns and maps.

Hiking ideas
You can draw hiking ideas from the Discover Norwich Trails of 2020 series, which was a program of discovery hikes to acquaint people with our trails network.

The by-pass around the washed-out section of the Lower Ballard Trail, caused by the deluge of July 2023, has been functioning reasonably well.
Some improvements made in 2024 have worked well to guide traffic safely along the narrow treadway. In winter, snowshoeing is possible though tricky. Using winter traction aids is highly recommended for safe passage.
About our Volunteers: Read profiles of 14 Norwich Trails volunteers. Consider joining a 1/2-day work party (generally one Sunday a month during non-snow months).
Contact and Feedback: To discuss a problem with our trails or our website, please contact norwichtrails@gmail.com
Requests for items to be on the next Trails Committee agenda should be received by the 20th of the month prior.
